In 1992, Isuzu made a truck and the Hombre (a different version of their pick-up truck). On the truck, the blower motor is under the instrument panel, next to the right kick panel. On the Hombre, it is located inside the engine compartment on the firewall. If the fan works on one speed, chances are, the blower motor resistor is bad, not the blower motor. If the blower motor makes noise or the resistor tests good, replace the blower motor.

Instructions

Trucks, Except Hombre

    1

Disconnect the negative battery cable and set it aside, ensuring that it does not touch metal, using the appropriate wrench. Remove the instrument panel trim on the passenger side, using the screwdriver or appropriate socket, depending on which model truck you have.

    2

Unplug the blower motor wiring harness connector. Remove the retaining screws using the appropriate socket or a screwdriver, depending on the model truck you have, and pull the motor assembly out of the truck. Unclip the cage retaining clip, then remove the cage from the motor.

    3

Clip the cage to the new motor. Install the motor and plug in the wiring harness connector. Tighten the screws firmly. Reconnect the battery cable. Start the vehicle to check operation.

Hombre

    4

Disconnect the negative battery cable, using the appropriate wrench. Set it aside, ensuring that it does not touch metal. Unplug the powertrain control module (PCM). Remove the bolt holding the wiring harness connectors onto the PCM, then remove the PCM.

    5

Remove the coolant reservoir, using the appropriate sockets. Unplug the wiring harness connector from the blower motor. Remove the retaining screw with the screwdriver, then remove the motor and cage from the engine compartment as an assembly.

    6

Remove the retaining clip holding the cage onto the motor. If a previous owner already changed the blower motor, you may have a nut in its place, instead of the screw. If so, remove the nut, using the appropriate socket.

    7

Clip or bolt the cage to the new motor. Install the motor and cage assembly and tighten the screws firmly. Plug in the wiring harness connector. Reinstall the coolant reservoir and PCM, tightening the bolts firmly.
