Chevrolet introduced the mid-sized Lumina in the 1990 model year. The 1991 Lumina came fitted with a 140-horsepower, 3.1-liter V-6 engine. It had a 3.4-liter, 210-horsepower V-6 engine available in the sporty-looking Lumina Z34. The 1991 Lumina used a standard wedge-style body design and incorporated a plastic front grille. Two of the four turn signals on the Lumina lay behind this grille; the rear taillight assemblies house the other two turn signals. This makes removal of the grille required as part of replacing the front turn signals and removing the taillight assembly a part of replacing the rear turn signals.

Instructions

    1

Open the Lumina's hood and remove the three screws on top of the front grille with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the two screws at the bottom-center of the grille with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the grille away from the front of the Lumina.

    2

Remove the screws securing the turn signal assembly to the grille with a Phillips screwdriver and pull the assembly from the grille.

    3

Rotate the turn signal socket counterclockwise to unlock it and pull the socket and burnt-out bulb from the turn signal assembly.

    4

Grab the old bulb and pull it from the socket with a slight wiggling motion. Pick up the new 3057A bulb with a clean, lint-free cloth and press it into the socket.

    5

Insert the socket and new bulb into the taillight assembly and turn it clockwise to lock it into place. Set the turn signal assembly back on the front grille and tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

    6

Set the grille back on the Lumina and tighten the five screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Close the vehicle's hood.

Rear Turn Signal

    7

Open the Lumina's trunk and remove the thumb nuts securing the trim behind the taillight assembly with the burnt-out turn signal. Pull the trim from behind the taillight assembly.

    8

Remove the nuts holding the taillight assembly in place with a ratchet and socket. Pull the taillight assembly from the rear of the vehicle.

    9

Remove the turn signal socket and bulb by turning it counterclockwise to unlock it and pulling the socket and bulb from the assembly.

    10

Remove the burnt-out turn signal with a slight wiggling motion. Grab a new 3057 turn signal bulb with a clean, lint-free cloth and press it into the turn signal socket.

    11

Set the taillight assembly back on the rear of the Lumina and tighten its nuts with a ratchet and socket. Reinstall the trim panel behind the taillight lens and tighten the thumb nuts to secure it. Close the Lumina's trunk.
