Removing the sun visors from the interior of your Jeep Cherokee may be necessary if the visors are worn or sagging. Sun visors often suffer from sun damage and discoloration, as well as from worn pivots that cause them to hang down and obstruct the driver's view. The options for replacement range from new visors from the Jeep dealer, to used visors from a salvage yard or aftermarket, to reproduction visors from one of the many aftermarket manufactures.
Instructions
- 1
Position yourself in the front seat of the Jeep, under the visor that you are removing. Grasp the edge of the visor and pivot it into the lowered position.
2Locate the clip on the inboard end of the visor that retains the visor to the roof. Pull the visor out of the clip and rotate it toward the side window of the Jeep.
3Locate the three screws where the visor meets the headliner and remove them, one at a time, using a Torx head screwdriver. Set the screws aside while supporting the visor with your hand.
4Carefully slide the bracket and pivot out of the hole in the headliner, then lower the visor and bracket. Remove the assembly from the Jeep.
5Position a new visor assembly inside the Jeep. Slide the spring and mounting bracket in place on the headliner, above the windshield.
6Install the three mounting screws and tighten them evenly with a Torx head screwdriver until they are snug. Over-tightening will strip the heads of the screws, damaging them.
7Slide the inboard end of the visor into the retaining clip on the headliner, then rotate the visor up to the headliner so it is not blocking visibility through the windshield.
