The Chevrolet Caprice's interior door panel must be removed to gain access to the vehicle's window regulator or the door's locking mechanism. The 1991 to 1996 Caprice's inside door panels are held to the vehicle by several black fasteners that can be removed with a flat-head screwdriver. To remove the door panel, not only will the fasteners need to be removed, but several of the door's components will have to be removed as well, such as the window crank handle and the armrest.

Instructions

    1

Take off the window crank handle by depressing the door panel and lifting out the retainer clip from the handle with a slotted screwdriver.

    2

Pry off the door-lock knob and remove the armrest screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

    3

Pry off the plastic trim cover from the door and remove the three screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

    4

Uninstall the screws from the lower portion of the interior door panel, the door handle covering plate, and underneath the armrest pad.

    5

Remove the eight clips from the edge of the door panel with a slotted screwdriver. Pull off the door panel carefully and disconnect the two electrical wiring connectors from the panel.
