The Protg evolved from Mazda's Familia line of cars, replacing the Mazda 323. The 1995 model brought with it a full redesign of the compact sedan. With exterior and interior styling enhancements, Mazda considered the Protg ample competition for the Toyota Camry. The interior door panels cover the door access holes, hiding the unsightly interior door components, such as the window motor, window regulator, door lock actuator and door latch, from occupant's view. In the event you need to replace any of those components, remove the door panel first.

Instructions

    1

Pry the trim cover off the trailing lower edge of the door panel using a trim tool. Remove the screw behind it with a Phillips screwdriver.

    2

Remove the screw in the inner door handle bezel using the Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the screw in the inner door pull with the Phillips screwdriver.

    3

Pry the A-pillar trim off the inside the door using the trim tool.

    4

Pry the door panel trim pins out that anchor the panel to the door with the trim tool. Pull the door panel away from the door far enough for you to unplug the power window and lock switches from the door harness.

    5

Pull the panel off the door to complete removal, ensuring to guide the inner door handle through the opening in the panel.

    6

Plug the power window and lock switches into the wiring harness. Set the door panel on the door and align the trim pins in the backside of the door panel with related holes in the door skin. Snap the trim pins into place with firm pressure.

    7

Reinstall the screws in the inner door handle bezel, inner door pull and behind the trailing-lower trim cover using the Phillips screwdriver.

    8

Snap the A-pillar and trailing-lower trim back onto the door and door panel respectively to complete reinstallation.
