Chevrolet released the front-driven Cavalier for the 1982 model year. In 1995, Chevrolet gave the Cavalier a complete redesign, scrapping the boxy look for a more wedge-like design. In 2002, Chevy refreshed the Cavalier's look, giving it sharper body lines, as well as sharp-angled headlights and marker light lenses. Replacing the driver's front blinker in the 2002 Cavalier requires removal of the marker light assembly. There are no nuts or bolts that hold the turn signal lens in place -- only one clip secures it.

Instructions

    1

Open the Cavalier's hood and locate the seven pins holding the plastic shield on the front of the engine compartment. Remove these pins by prying the center of each pin upward, using a flat-head screwdriver, then prying each pin from the plastic shield. Pull the shield from the engine compartment.

    2

Locate the small access hole on the top, outer headlight bracket. Insert a flat-head screwdriver through this hole and hold down the locking button for the marker light assembly. Pull the marker light assembly away from the Cavalier.

    3

Turn the socket on the rear of the marker light assembly counterclockwise and pull it away from the assembly. Pull the burned-out bulb from the socket, using a slight wiggling motion.

    4

Insert a new 3357 light bulb into the socket. Only touch the plastic base of the bulb, as touching the glass part may cause premature bulb failure.

    5

Install the bulb and socket into the rear of the marker light assembly and turn the socket clockwise to lock it in place.

    6

Set the marker light back in place on the Cavalier, lining up the three tabs on the rear of the assembly with the three holes in the marker lens bed, then press the assembly until its retaining clip snaps into place.

    7

Set the plastic shield back on the front of the engine compartment. Insert the seven retaining pins and press the center of each pin downward to lock the pins in place. Close the Cavalier's hood.
