The interior door switch in the 1999 Saturn S-Series, including the SL2, locks and unlocks the car doors. Some models use an electric switch to achieve this and others use a simple manual switch to lock individual doors. Unlike on some other cars, the window switches are not located within the door switch panel, which simplifies the door switch removal process. The most common reason you'd want to remove the door switch is to replace it with a new one.
Instructions
- 1
Open the door wide and sit in the seat next to the door switch you are removing.
2Pry along the edges of the plastic trim panel around the door lock switch and interior handle, using a trim piece tool. Pull the plastic trim panel off and set it down.
3Push the locking tab on the door lock switch with a flat-head screwdriver. Pull the switch out of its mount.
4Unplug the electrical harness to disconnect the door lock switch.
5Connect the harness to the replacement door lock switch, and then depress the tab. Push the switch into place to mount it.
6Push the trim panel back into place when you are ready to replace it. It will snap into the door panel.
