Ford's F-150 for the 2006 model year has exterior light packages that integrate many of the lights into the same assembly -- the headlamps and turn signals, for instance, are installed in the same lamp assembly, while the rear assembly houses the brake lights, reverse lights and turn signal lights. You should inspect the lights on your 2006 Ford F150 twice a month and replace any bulbs you discover to have burned out. While you can purchase replacement bulbs from the dealer, most auto parts retailers and many big-box department stores offer a variety of automotive replacement bulbs.

Instructions

Front Turn Signals

    1

Turn the F-150's lights off, remove the key from the ignition and then open the truck's hood.

    2

Pull the trim cover back from the headlamp assembly to expose the three retaining screws. Remove the screws with a socket wrench and a 6-mm socket.

    3

Pull the upper retaining tab -- located on top of the headlamp assembly -- upward to release it. Slide the headlamp assembly forward to access the rear section.

    4

Turn the turn signal socket counterclockwise and pull it out of the headlamp assembly. Pull the old bulb out and replace it with the 3157A bulb. Insert the bulb and socket into the headlamp assembly and turn the socket clockwise to lock it into place.

    5

Slide the headlamp back into the F-150's front clip and push the retaining tab back down to lock it in. Reinstall the three retaining screws with the socket and wrench.

Rear Turn Signals

    6

Open the F-150's tailgate to expose the retaining screws holding the side of the tail lamp assembly to the F150's bed wall. Remove the two retaining screws, using a socket wrench and a 6-mm socket.

    7

Pull the tail lamp assembly off the back of the truck bed. Rotate the turn signal socket counterclockwise before pulling it out of the back of the tail lamp assembly.

    8

Pull the old bulb out and replace it with the 3057K bulb. Put the new bulb and socket into the back of the tail lamp assembly. Rotate the turn signal socket clockwise to lock it in place.

    9

Reposition the tail lamp assembly in the back of the F-150. Reinstall the two retaining screws with the socket and wrench. Close the tailgate.
