The heater hoses on a Chevrolet 350 engine are relatively easy to reach. There are two heater hoses on the 350 -- one runs from the water pump to the heater core, which is located behind the bulkhead on the passenger side of the vehicle, and the other from the intake manifold to the heater core. The heater hoses are 5/8-inch hose, which can be purchased at any auto parts store. The hoses are not preformed, so you just need to purchase a length of hose. Measure the original hoses, as lengths may vary from year to year.
Instructions
- 1
Place the vehicle in park on a flat surface. Engage the parking brake.
2Loosen the clamps on each end of the offending heater hose, using the screwdriver.
3Pull the hose from the heater core, taking care to pull it straight off, so you don't damage the heater core. Pull the other end of the hose off the engine or water pump. If the hose is clamped onto the engine using a bracket, remove the hose from the bracket.
4Remove the hose clamps from the old hose. Slide them onto the new hose.
5Slide the new hose onto its connections -- at the water pump or intake, then at the heater core. Slide the hose clamps up to their connection points and tighten them firmly. Snap the hose into its bracket, if applicable. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
