In 2005, the Volkswagen Jetta underwent a dramatic makeover. This redesign gave the Jetta a sleeker and sportier appearance, as well as a more modern look. The 2007 Jetta came standard with a 150-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and had a 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder available in its top three trim levels. The 2007 Jetta also came with a convenient storage compartment mounted on top of the dashboard, just above the air vents. You must lift this panel slightly in order to gain the access needed to remove the Jetta's radio bezel.

Instructions

    1

Open the upper dashboard storage compartment and pull the rubber mat from inside the compartment -- exposing the bolts below it. Remove the two bolts, using a ratchet and socket. Lift the storage compartment off the dashboard and set it in a secure location.

    2

Insert a plastic trim wedge in the seam between the top part of the dashboard and the air outlet panel, then pry upward to disengage the upper clips. Lift up on the rearmost part of the air outlet panel -- the part closest to the vents -- just enough to expose the radio bezel-retaining screws.

    3

Remove the two radio bezel-retaining screws, using a Phillips screwdriver. Pry around the perimeter of the radio bezel to disengage its retaining clips, using a trim wedge, and remove the bezel.

    4

Line the clips on the rear of the radio bezel up with the slots on the radio bezel, then press the bezel toward the dash until it snaps into place. Tighten the two bezel-retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

    5

Guide the air outlet panel down, inserting the tabs on the rearmost part of the panel -- closest to the vents -- into the slots on the radio bezel. Press downward on the front of the air outlet panel to engage the rear retaining tabs.

    6

Set the dashboard storage compartment into the air outlet panel. Tighten the two bolts in the dashboard storage compartment, using a ratchet and socket. Set the rubber pad back into the dashboard storage compartment.
