The interior blower motor on a 1995 Nissan 240SX is on the passenger side under the dash. It is mounted in a vertical position up into the HVAC housing directly behind the glove compartment. Removal of the glove compartment to access the blower motor is a matter of personal preference for convenience, as it can be accessed from under the dash. If the blower motor operates in any speed, the likelihood is that the blower motor resistor is the problem.
Instructions
Removal
- 1
Disconnect the negative battery cable, using a combination wrench. Remove the glove box by removing the bolts at the bottom, under the door, using a nut driver. Open the door and remove the Phillips screws on the top and sides of the box, using a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the whole box out. Disconnect the electrical plug to the glove box light, if installed. Make sure the air bag wire is not attached to the back of the box. If it is, detach the wire from the clamp on the box but do not disconnect the harness connector.
2Unplug the electrical connector from the blower motor. Pull the rubber cooling tube out of the bottom side of the blower motor.
3Remove the screws retaining the motor to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning housing using a nut driver. Lower the motor down and out of the housing.
Installation
- 4
Inspect the plastic fan blades for cracks or missing blades and replace it if defects are found. Remove any leaves or dirt in the housing. Insert the new blower motor straight up into the housing. Install the screws and tighten them with the nut driver.
5Push the cooler hose into the blower motor from whence it came. Plug in the electrical connector.
6Install the glove box with the door open. Install the screws in the top and sides of the inside face. Close the door and install the lower bolts with the nut driver. Reinstall the negative battery cable and tighten it with a combination wrench.
