The Chrysler 300 was introduced in 1955, and the 300M was introduced in 1999. The 2000 Chrylser 300M was equipped with a 3.5-liter high-output V-6 engine, capable of producing 253-horsepower and 255 foot-pounds of torque. The headlight assemblies on the front of the 2000 300M contain the high-beam and low-beam bulbs. Replacing the headlights on the 2000 300M, will increase your visibility. Replacing the headlghts will also make you more visible to oncoming traffic.

Instructions

    1

Sit in the 300M and start the engine. Pull the hood release lever. Turn the wheel as far as it will go in the direction of the headlight you are going to replace. Turn the ignition key off to lock the steering wheel in place. Step out of the car.

    2

Remove the rubber grommet on the forward side of the splash shield in the wheel well. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the grommet from the shield. Remove the two plastic fasteners, using your screwdriver to pull the fasteners out slightly. Use needle-nose pliers to grab the fasteners and remove them from the fascia.

    3

Remove the two headlamp mounting bolts from the radiator core support, using your ratchet and socket. Pull the bolts upward, and make a mental note of which side the longer bolt is on. Pull the fascia forward and down with one hand, while pulling the headlamp assembly out of the front of the car with your other hand. Rest the headlamp assembly on the front fascia, using your leg or knee to brace the assembly.

    4

Remove the spring clips from the back of the headlight bulb sockets by hand. Pull the bulbs and sockets free from the headlight assembly. Pull the old light bulbs out of their headlight sockets.

    5

Go to the driver's side of the car and turn the headlight switch on. Step back to the front of the car. Turn your multimeter dial to volts. Insert the two probes from your multimeter into each headlight bulb socket. If you receive no reading from the meter, the bulb socket is bad or you have an electrical short in your lighting system. If you receive a voltage reading, proceed to Step 4.

    6

Wrap the new headlight bulbs in a paper towel or rag. Insert the bulbs into their sockets, then hold both parts by the bulb socket. Do not touch the bulb lenses with your fingers directly. Install the bulbs and sockets into the headlight assembly. Install the spring clip over the headlights by hand. Install the headlamp assembly back into the front of the car. Install the two vertical mounting bolts through the core support, and tighten them snug with your ratchet and socket. Install the plastic push pins that hold the fascia to the core support, by hand.

    7

Step to the side of the car. Insert the fascia fasteners through the hole in the wheel well shield, using needle-nose pliers. Push the fasteners into their mounting holes. Use the tip of you screwdriver to secure the fasteners.
