Plastic dashboards can be found in various types of vehicles, from old to new. Most all newer vehicles come with vinyl dashboards instead of plastic ones, because plastic has a tendency to crack more than vinyl does. Cracks in a plastic dashboard can be the result of heat exposure, vibrations and regular use over time. Super glue is often used to repair cracks and tears in plastic and vinyl dashboards. Excess super glue can be removed safely with nail polish remover.

Instructions

    1

Open all of the doors to the vehicle so that the fumes from the nail polish remover can escape.

    2

Locate the area stained by super glue. Saturate a cotton swab with the nail polish remover. Gently rub the soaked cotton swab back and forth over the entire length and width of the area with super glue.

    3

Discard the cotton swab and saturate another cotton swab with nail polish remover. Gently rub the soaked cotton swab over the entire area containing super glue. By this time, the super glue should be loosening from the plastic.

    4

Gently scrub the entire area with super glue with a soft-bristled toothbrush until most or all of the super glue has been loosened. Wipe away the excess loosened super glue with a soft cloth.

    5

Continue using the cotton swabs and the nail polish remover to loosen the super glue, and continue using the soft-bristled toothbrush until all of the super glue has been loosened. Wipe the entire area clean with a soft cloth. Discard the used cotton swabs and the soft cloths.
