Refrigerant is used to recharge an air conditioning system so it cools a vehicle properly. Air conditioners (ACs) that have lost cooling power can often be revived after a refrigerant refill.
Connecting
Connecting the hose and the valve to a container of refrigerant is the first step in recharging a vehicle's AC. When the valve is turned, it will punch a hole in the can's top. The valve then needs to be turned back a tad, letting a little refrigerant in the hose while keeping unwanted air from getting into the air conditioning system.
Closing
Next, the valve should be closed to prevent refrigerant from seeping out. The opposite end of the hose should be speedily connected to the AC's service fitting. The low pressure fitting is smaller than the hot one and should be the only fitting used when performing this procedure.
Tips
It is possible to recharge a vehicle's AC too much as well as not enough. If this happens, the AC's performance can suffer. A gauge may be obtained which is helpful for precise monitoring and accuracy during recharging.
