If a quarter panel window on your Toyota becomes damaged, it not only detracts from the overall look of your vehicle, but also can put it at risk of being stolen and creates an unsafe condition for passengers. A damaged window should be replaced as soon as possible. The procedure is fairly straightforward and can be completed in just over an hour by a person who has basic auto repair knowledge.

Instructions

    1

Enter the back seat of your Toyota. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the weatherstripping in place, and lift the weatherstripping away from the window and place it aside.

    2

Slide the trim stick into the window frame and unhook the rubber trim from its connectors. Carefully pull the rubber trim away from the window.

    3

Use a sharp blade to cut away the rubber gasket from around the panel window. Make a small slit in the bottom of the gasket and work your way around the window cutting away all of the gasket.

    4

Put on protective work gloves. Place one hand outside the window frame. Carefully press the window out of the frame with one hand and catch it with the other. Place the glass in your recycling can or take it to your local recycling center.

    5

Apply a layer of window sealant around the edges of the new quarter panel window. Place the new gasket around the edge of the window opening and press it onto the frame to set it firmly in position.

    6

Place the quarter panel glass into the window gasket. Reattach the rubber trim around the window connectors. Reconnect the weatherstripping to the window by attaching the mounting screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
