The windshield wiper motor on a 2007 Pontiac G6 is connected to a module under the air intake duct. This is just another way of saying that the motor and linkage are a unit and must be removed as such, then separated. The windshield wiper arms are secured to the wiper gears with a nut and covered with a plastic cap for concealment. The linkage is secured to the wiper motor arm ball by plastic bushings that snap onto the ball.
Instructions
- 1
Remove the concealment covers on the windshield wiper arms at the wiper gear. Matchmark the wiper arm location on the wiper gear by making a mark on the bottom side of the arm and the gear. Remove the nut on each wiper arm using a socket and ratchet. Lift the arm off the gear.
2Lift the plastic trim fasteners in the air intake grill and pull them out and remove the grill. Remove the bolts securing the wiper module to the plenum using a socket and ratchet. Lift the wiper module carefully out of the plenum. Unplug the wiper motor.
3Remove the clip securing the wiper motor harness to the module. Remove the module from the car. Remove the wiper linkage arm from the wiper motor arm using the flat head screwdriver to pry the bushing off the motor lever ball. Remove the two bolts securing the motor to the module using a socket and ratchet.
4Install the new motor onto the module. Torque the two motor-to-module bolts to 40 inch-pounds. Snap the wiper linkage arm to the motor lever ball using the piers. Hold the wiper module close to the plenum and plug in the electrical connector. Place the harness clip on the module.
5Install the wiper module and torque all the bolts to 89 inch-pounds. Install the air intake grill. Install the wiper arms, aligning the matchmarks on the gear with the arm. Install the nuts and torque them to 26 foot-pounds. Install the concealment caps.
