The door-lock cylinders are secured to the vehicle door with a clip on the inside of the door. In order to remove the door-lock cylinder, it is necessary to remove the interior door panel. Caution must be taken when removing the door-lock cylinder to prevent damage to the vehicle door or the door-locking mechanism.

Instructions

    1

Open the car door and visually locate all the screws that secure the power door-lock and window switches. Remove the retaining screws with the screwdriver set and put them in a safe place. Gently pull the electrical switches away from the door panel and carefully disconnect the wire harness by pushing on the tab and pulling it away from the connector.

    2

The door panel is secured to the door with plastic clips that are permanently attached to the inside of the door panel. Pry the door panel away from the door by working around the edge of the panel with the door panel removal tool. The door panel removal tool should be positioned directly under each clip. Once the door panel is completely loose, lift it up and away from the door by hand. Remove any wiring retainers with the screwdriver set, and set the door panel aside.

    3

Remove the door-lock actuator bar by gently pulling it away from the tip of the door-lock cylinder. Remove the retaining clip from the door-lock cylinder with the flat tip screwdriver from the screwdriver set. Push the lock cylinder out of the door with one hand while pulling on it from the outside of the door.

    4

Visually compare the new door-lock cylinder with the old one to ensure it is the same length and size. Gently push the new door-lock cylinder into the door from the outside of the vehicle until it sits flush with the door. Install the new retaining clip by pushing it under the raised lip of the lock cylinder and the door. Connect the door-lock actuator bar by pushing it onto the tip of the door-lock cylinder.

    5

Reconnect any wiring retainers to the back of the door panel. Set the door panel back down onto the door, making sure all plastic retainers line up with all holes in the door.

    6

Connect the door panel to the door by gently taping the door panel around the edges, pushing the retainers into the door. Reconnect all electrical connectors to the door-lock switch and power-window switch.

    7

Attach the door-lock and power-window switches back onto the door panel with the screwdriver set.
