How to Dissolve Carbon Deposits

The life of your car's engine can sometimes be a hard one. Much debris can build up in an engine, causing a possible loss of performance over time. Some of this debris includes carbon deposits that need to be dissolved to ensure the stability of your car's engine.

You can use a cleaner to remove carbon buildup to improve the connectivity of your vehicle's engine.

Instructions

    1

Treat the gas and oil containers. Full up the gas tank with 91-plus octane gasoline. Pour one can of motor treatment cleaner into the gas tank through the funnel. Cleaners can be found at any auto parts location. Drive the car about 15 miles so the gasoline and cleaning solution mixes properly and runs through the fuel injector.

    2

Park the car and lift up the hood. Wait about 20 minutes for the engine to cool down. Pour half of the second treatment can in the oil using the funnel. Close the hood and drive the car for about 100 or 200 miles. There is no need to do this all at once; just go about your normal routine and keep track of your mileage.

    3

Change the oil in your car after driving the 100 or 200 miles. The oil will appear much darker than usual. This is because of the treatment solution mixing with the oil through the crankcase.

    4

Start the car and let it idle for about 10 minutes. Disengage the brake booster line with pliers and the screwdriver. You can locate the booster using your vehicle's operator's manual.

    5

Pour the remainder of the can of treatment cleaner into the booster line while the car is running. Make sure the vehicle is in park so it does not roll. Add another third of the cleaner from a new can quickly. This should cause the engine to stall and possibly smoke. If it does not stall, turn the car off and allow it to sit for 15 minutes.

    6

Disconnect the throttle hose under the engine carriage. Have a friend hold down on the gas peddle. or use a brick if you are alone. Spray the remainder of the cleanser in the throttle assembly. Allow the car to sit for 30 minutes and then reconnect the brake boosters and throttle hoses.
