In the 1998 model year, the S70 arrived as the replacement to the Volvo 850. In the storied history of Volvo, which dates back to 1927, the S70 is little more that a blink of an eye, lasting only three years Volvo eliminated it following the 2000 model year. The 1998 S70 came standard with a 168-horsepower, 2.4-liter five-cylinder engine. Also standard on the 1998 S70 was an AM-FM stereo with a cassette player. A buyer could also opt to go with the AM-FM stereo with a cassette and CD player. A security system protects the radio from theft by locking it when it loses a 12-volt power source.

Instructions

    1

Find your radios security card, provided by Volvo when you purchased the vehicle. If you bought the radio from a retailer, the radio should have come with a code. If you cannot find the code, you must visit the retailer that sold you the radio or your nearest Volvo dealership to get it.

    2

Insert the key in the ignition and turn it to the I position. Press and release the On/Off button on the radio to turn it on.

    3

Observe as Code appears on the radios display.

    4

Press and release the preset number that matches the first number in the security code, then the second, third and fourth numbers.

    5

Observe as the radio operates as normal, if you entered the code correctly. If Rpt appears or the radio does not start operating, turn the ignition to the 0 position and repeat the process from Step 2.
