The tail light circuit on a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pickup is powered by 12 volt DC from the main wiring harness in the front of the vehicle. The wiring branches from the main wiring harness and extends to connectors at the rear tail lights on both sides. Each tail light housing comprises three bulbs. A twin filament tail light/stop light bulb performs both functions plus acts as a turn indicator by flashing the stop light filament. A single filament turn indicator bulb oriented toward the side of the housing performs turn signal function, as well. A single filament bulb in the lower part of the fixture acts as a backup light.
