How to Remove Climate Control in a Mercedes 300CE

If you wish to remove the climate control unit from your Mercedes-Benz 300CE, you will need to purchase a special removal key from Mercedes-Benz directly. With this key, you can remove the climate control unit in a matter of seconds. The climate control unit is held in by two locking tabs. Once you insert the key into the holes on the sides of the unit, the locking tabs will release, allowing you to remove the unit.

Instructions

Open the trunk of the 300CE and disconnect the battery with a socket wrench. Remove only the negative terminal.

Open the driver's-side door and insert the removal key into the four holes around the climate control unit, making sure the flat side is facing outward when inserting the key. Twist the key to unlock each locking tab.

Pull the climate control unit out of the vehicle and disconnect its wiring harness at the rear of the unit. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Reconnect the negative battery terminal and close the trunk.
