If the lights on your 1989 Corvette begin to malfunction, you could be looking at either a blown fuse or a burnt-out bulb. Those are the two most common problems afflicting the lights of any vehicle. In either case, simply replacing the faulty component will resolve the issue. The light fuses are located in the engine compartment fuse block, and the bulbs are located inside the lamps themselves.

Instructions

Headlights

    1

Open the hood and disconnect the Corvette's battery. Turn the headlamp switch to the OFF position.

    2

Remove the two Torx screws behind the headlamp assembly with a Torx screwdriver. Remove the two Phillips screws from the headlamp cover with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

    3

Remove the headlight bulb socket and unplug its electrical connector. Remove the bulb by rotating it counterclockwise and pulling it out of the socket. Install a replacement bulb BLANK into the socket and reattach the electrical connector.

    4

Reattach the cover and its screws. Reattach the Torx screws.

    5

Reconnect the battery and close the hood.

Fog Lights

    6

Open the hood and disconnect the Corvette's battery.

    7

Reach up from behind the front bumper to access the fog light assemblies. Remove the single hex-head screw using a hex-head screwdriver, and open the access cover.

Reach behind the turn signal assembly at the front of the engine compartment and remove the front turn signal bulb by twisting it counterclockwise. Pull it out of the assembly.

    12

Install a replacement BLANK bulb into the assembly. Reconnect the battery and close the hood.

Rear Turn Signal and Tail Light Replacement

    13

Open the hood and disconnect the Corvette's battery.

    14

Remove the Torx screws from the tail light lens with a Torx screwdriver. Remove the lens.

    15

Push the bulb in and rotate it counterclockwise to loosen. Pull it out to remove it.

    16

Fuses

    18

Open the hood and disconnect the Corvette's battery. Locate the fuse block at the rear of the engine compartment.

    19

Remove the cover from the fuse block. On the underside of the cover is a list that gives the location of each fuse. Locate the desired fuse. If you are still unsure of the location of the fuse you wish to replace, consult your Corvette owner's manual.
