The blower motor resistor is located close to the blower motor, near the blower motor actuator. When you operate the switch to change the speeds of the fan, the current flows through different springs on the resistor. Depending on the year of your Trailblazer, the resistor could have three or four springs. If the blower resistor is bad, you can usually see burn marks on the circuit board. As a general rule if the fan works only on one speed, the blower resistor is bad. But you should always check the switch before replacing the resistor.

Instructions

    1

Remove the right insulator panel in the cab, and the instrument panel compartment door, using the appropriate sockets.

    2

Unplug the blower motor wiring harness connector. Remove the retaining bolts, using the appropriate socket. Remove the blower motor resistor from the vehicle.

    3

Install the new blower motor resistor and tighten the bolts snugly. Plug in the wiring harness connector. Reinstall the instrument panel storage compartment door and the right insulator panel.

    4

Start the vehicle and check for proper operation by turning the fan on, then changing the speeds on the fan.
