Installing the brake pads on a 1997 Honda Accord is a relatively straightforward process. However, before you can install the pads, you need to force the caliper piston back into the caliper. This critical step is almost always overlooked. If you do not do this, the new pads will never fit.
Instructions
- 1
Place the screw-end of the C-clamp against the caliper piston.
2Place the other side of the clamp against the back of the brake caliper.
3Turn the handle on the C-clamp clockwise to tighten the clamp and force the piston back into the caliper.
4Install the brake pads so that the curved end of the pad is facing inward towards the caliper.
5Align the caliper mounting hole and the caliper pin bolt. Thread the pin bolt and tighten it to close and "lock" the caliper.
6Slide the caliper over the rotor assembly and tighten the caliper mounting bolts.
