EPSON LAUNCHES NEW LINE-UP OF MFDs, PRINTERS AND SCANNERS AIMED AT SMEs
Epson launched the Epson Stylus Office range in India today. In a press conference organized in Bangalore, the company announced that the new Epson Stylus Office T30, T40W, TX300F and TX600FW were the company's latest business MFDs printers engineered specifically to meet the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In addition, Epson also unveiled two sheet fed scanners, the Epson GT-S80 and GT-S50, as part of the line-up.

WESTERN DIGITAL UNVEILS NAS SERVER FOR HOME
Western Digital introduced a new home edition of its network attached storage (NAS) server that offers continuous data protection, remote accessibility and -- most importantly -- plug-and-play installation. The My Book World Edition NAS drive comes in 1TB and 2TB capacities and, once plugged into an Ethernet router, is automatically discovered by Macs and Vista PCs without any network configuration required, according to Dale Pistilli, vice president of marketing at Western Digital.

GARMIN AND ASUS LAUNCH FIRST SMARTPHONES
Garmin and Asus used the  Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week to launch the first handsets in their joint smartphone venture, which was announced at the start of the month.
The Nuvifone M20 and the Nuvifone G60 have been designed with special consideration to location-based services via GPS and use navigation software from Garmin.

MICROSOFT KILLS EQUIPT SUBSCRIPTION OFFERING
After offering it only since July, Microsoft is discontinuing its Equipt package of software and services. Equipt is a package that includes Office Home and Student 2007, OneCare, Office Live Workspaces, Windows Live Mail, Live Messenger and Live Photo. Users paid US$70(Rs. 3,500) a year for it.Microsoft began selling Equipt in Circuit City stores on July 15. Late last year, Equipt went on sale in the U.K. also.

FACEBOOK USERS CLAIM CONTENT VICTORY
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg says the social network will return to its previous terms of service regarding user data ownership in the face of a barrage of criticism and planned legal threats from privacy organisations. A user group protesting the change has claimed victory over the changes, after more than 70,000 Facebook users joined forces to voice their complaint.
