The Chevrolet S10 truck was manufactured by the General Motors Corporation from 1982 to 2004. The spindles, oftentimes referred to as the axles, of your S10 are essential for the truck's steering and suspension. Located next to the steering arm of the S10, you can remove and lower your S10's spindles in an hour and a half. As the spindles are located on the underside of the S10, you will need to use a jack to access them.

Instructions

    1

Remove the nuts from the two front wheels using a wrench.

    2

Lift up the S10 using a jack and safely support the front end of the S10 with jack stands

    3

    Pull off the front wheels.

    4

Remove the hub assembly from the steering arm of the S10. The hub assembly is held on by six bolts. Remove these with a socket wrench to remove the hub assembly.

    5

Use pliers to pull off the cotter pin from the steering arm, located below the upper ball joints.

    6

Remove the four bolts from the bearing and pull the bearing off of the steering arm.

    7

Pull down the brake caliper and remove its two bolts. Push it out of the way.

    8

Remove the connecting bolts between the steering arm and the S10's spindle. There are two on each side of the spindle.

    9

Use a rubber mallet to knock the spindle free from the steering arm.

    10

Remove the spindle from the steering arm and slowly lower it to the ground. You may need some assistance when lowering the spindle.
