The 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX comes equipped with a boost gauge to allow you to see the turbocharger pressure. The boost gauge is installed in the upper column cover and can be replaced in a matter of minutes provided you have the appropriate tools. To access the gauge, you will need to remove the steering column covers. The Subaru boost gauge part number is H5010FE050, but there are also several aftermarket boost gauges you can install. You just need to make sure they are compatible with the Impreza WRX.

Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and engage the parking brake by lifting up the parking brake lever.
2Place the gear in a neutral position and turn off the engine.
3Lift up the hood and use the hood stay to secure it.
4Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery with a socket wrench.
5Open the driver's side door. Remove the two screws from the cluster visor with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the visor.
6Remove the screw from the lower column cover and pry off the lower column cover with a flat-head screwdriver.
7Remove the two screws from the upper column cover and pry off the cover with a flat-head screwdriver.
8Remove the single screw from underneath the old boost gauge on the upper column cover. Remove the holding plate and boost gauge housing.
9Disconnect the wiring connector from the boost gauge and remove it from the vehicle.
10Install the new boost gauge into the housing and reconnect the wiring connector. Reattach the holding plate and the single screw.
11Place the upper column cover back onto the vehicle and reinstall its two screws. Reattach the lower column cover and its single screw. Reattach the cluster visor and its two screws.
12Reconnect the negative terminal to the battery and close the hood.
