Granite wortops do they make or break a kitchen ............

I absolutely love granite ! It is such a beautiful product and the thought you have a material that is millions of years old in your kitchen fascinates me.

People often confuse granite with marble and vice versa, but they are actually very different materials geologically. 

Granite is much older and harder than marble and is actually igneous rock formed mainly of feldspar and quartz, usually with traces of mica or hornblende.

Granite can be highly polished to expose all of its natural characteristics; honed for a matt finish or flame-textured for an aged, antique finish. These finishes are sometimes combined to produce interesting patterns and features.

I use a lot of large islands in my designs which are fantastic but can sometimes prove to be a problem when searching for a slab of granite big enough, my pet hate is joins in these wonderful slabs so i am always a fussy customer when it comes to slab selection Stephanie at QM does a fantastic job of dealing with my requests and works super hard searching the continent for that elusive slab and 99% of the time she finds it !! she loves a challenge! 

Granite is tremendously popular for its aesthetic appearance and its hard wearing, almost maintenance-free qualities. This is especially true of kitchen worktops and counter tops.
