How to Fix a 1995 Ford Escort Side Mirror

Replacing a side view mirror on a 1995 Ford Escort is a simple procedure. Factory replacement aftermarket mirrors are plentiful due to the demand and can be purchased at most local auto parts stores. They are surprisingly inexpensive. As a matter of fact, they not only carry original equipment manufacture style replacements, but they carry custom parts as well. The 1995 Escort simplifies the replacement of the power side view mirror by placing the control knob on the inside concealment cover over the retaining bolts.

Removal

Place the window in the full down position. Pry the triangular concealment cover off with a small screwdriver from the inside of the vehicle. This is the cover at the top front of the door panel concealing the attachment point for the mirror.

Hold the mirror with one hand to keep it from falling. Remove the three exposed screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

Pull the mirror away from the door and disconnect the electrical connector on the mirror side of the door.

Installation

Hold the mirror close enough to connect the electrical connector. Push the plastic electrical connector into the large hole in the door and move the mirror into place on the door.

Install the three Phillips screws securing the mirror.

Align the concealment cover with adjustment knob over the inside mounting point for the mirror and push it on until it snaps in place.
