The Yamaha Road Star is a popular custom cruiser. The Road Star has a V-2, four stroke, fuel-injected engine and a five-speed gearbox. There may come a time when the seat needs to be removed, either to make repairs or to install an aftermarket seat. On some Road Star models, like the Warrior and Midnight, the seat key lock is on the seat. On the Road Star Silverado, the seat lock is built into the ignition switch.

Instructions

    1

Place the key into the seat lock, either in the ignition or on the left hand side of the frame just below the seat.

    2

Place your hand on the front end of the seat and nudge it down lightly and then turn the key to the right hand side until you hear a click.

    3

Raise the front end of the seat into the upward position.

    4

Slip the 10 mm socket onto the end of the ratchet and then slip it over the bolt on the rear seat strap. Turn the bolt to the left to loosen and remove it.

    5

Lift up on the rear end of the Road Star's seat and lift it out and free of the frame.
