The Ford Mustang was introduced in the middle of 1964, and actually is called the 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang. The 1995 Ford Mustang was available as a base model, Cobra and GT. The base engine in the 1995 Mustang was a 3.8-liter V-6 engine. The more popular 5.0-liter V-8 engines were available in all three 1995 Mustang models. The window motor on the 1995 Mustang is attached to the window regulator, which guides the window upward and downward. Please read the entire "Warnings" section prior to starting this project.

Instructions

    1

Turn the ignition key to the accessories position. Roll the window completely upward using the window switch. If the window is stuck in a downward position, simply hold the window regulator as you remove and install the motor. Turn the ignition off and remove the ignition key. Open the door that contains the window motor you are going to replace.

    2

Pry the top of the window switch plate downward by inserting a flat-head screwdriver between the top of the bezel and the door trim panel. Push the plate top downward about 1 inch, then outward to release the upper plate tab. Pry the forward- and rear-facing ends of the plate out of the door panel slightly. Grab both ends with your hands and pull the plate out of the door in one quick movement.

    3

Turn the bezel upside down. Remove the two wiring screws from the electrical switch panel using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Remove the switch panel from the switch plate. Tuck the switches back into the hole from which the plate was removed. Remove the two lower Phillips mounting screws, between the speaker kick panel, and the door panel. Remove the single plastic fastener from the door frame using a flat-head screwdriver.

    4

Remove the door handle bezel from the door using a flat-head screwdriver to pry free the handle bezel from the panel. Remove the bezel by hand around the handle once it is free of the door panel. Remove the small triangular outside mirror backing panel at the top front of the door, using a flat-head screwdriver to pry it free.

    5

Pull upward on the entire door trim panel to release the top of the panel from the door frame. Pull the panel slightly away from the door. Disconnect the door panel wiring by hand, between the panel and the door. Completely remove the door panel. Peel the water seal away from the door panel from top to bottom until you expose the window motor.

    6

Remove the three window motor mounting screws with a ratchet, socket and extension. Keep your fingers clear of the door's inner parts as you remove the screws. Place your hand or a block of wood beneath the window regulator. Remove by hand the window motor horizontally from the window regulator. Disconnect by hand the window motor wiring connector. Install the new window motor onto the regulator assembly horizontally, by hand. Tighten the motor mounting screws between 50 to 56 inch-pounds with a torque wrench, extension and socket. Connect the electrical connector to the new motor.

    7

Remove the wooden block, if necessary, from the inside of the door. Install the water seal by firmly pressing it back into position so it sticks to the door. Installation of the door panel, door panel accessories and fasteners are the reverse of the removal instructions. No torque is needed on these parts, and over-tightening of screws can break the plastic parts.
