How to Install Brake Calipers on Car Wheels

Brake calipers are connected to the brake pads on disc brakes. When you replace the brake pads on your disc brakes, it is good practice to also replace the brake caliper. This prevents uneven brake pad wear and brake noise. You'll also find that it ensures proper caliper movement.

Instructions

Install the brake caliper to the anchor plate or bracket. You need to tighten the bolts.

Lubricate the rubber insulators. You need a silicone dielectric compound to lubricate the insulators.

Reconnect the brake hose. You need to replace the copper washers or gaskets with new ones.

Fill the master cylinder reservoirs. You need to replace the brake fluid you siphoned out when you removed the old brake caliper.

Bleed the hydraulic system. You need remove any air from the brake line.

Check for fluid leaks. You need to apply pressure to your brake pedal and look for brake fluid leaks.

Lower the car. You need to drive it to see if the brakes work correctly.
