The Tempo is an automobile produced by the Ford Motor Company from 1984 to 1994 and is available in either a coupe or sedan model. The blower motor on your 1990 Ford Tempo is what powers the blower and allows hot or cold air to circulate throughout the passenger compartment of your vehicle. If the blower motor begins to fail, the problem can be resolved by checking the blower fuse or by replacing the motor. The blower motor is located underneath the Tempo's dashboard, so it can take some time to access it, but the task is fairly straightforward and simple.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood of the Tempo, and remove the cover from the fuse panel. Remove the fuse in slot 37, and install a new 15A fuse in its place. If the blower is still malfunctioning, the issue is probably with the motor itself.

    2

Disconnect the negative battery terminal cable with a socket wrench.

    3

Open the glove box and empty it out. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the four screws at the rear of the glove box, and remove the glove box from the dashboard.

    4

Remove the four bolts from the right-side knee panel with a socket wrench, and remove the knee panel from the vehicle.

    5

Reach up into the area revealed by removing the knee panel, and locate the blower assembly just below where the glove box was.

    6

Disconnect the blower's electrical wiring connector, and remove its three screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

    7

Pull the blower assembly out of the vehicle. Remove the two screws securing the motor to the blower. Remove the blower motor, and install a replacement motor. Reattach the screws.

    8

Reconnect the blower assembly's electrical wiring connector, and reinstall the three screws to secure it.

    9

Reattach the knee panel and the glove box with their respective bolts and screws. Reconnect the battery and close the hood.
