In 2004, Chevrolet released a new compact pickup -- the Colorado -- as the replacement for its S10 model. The 2008 Colorado came standard with a 2.9-liter, in-line four-cylinder engine that produced 185 horsepower, and had an optional 3.7-liter, in-line five-cylinder engine that cranked out 242 horsepower. The 2008 Colorado had more aggressive styling than the S10. The most aggressively-styled components were the large headlight and turn signal assemblies on the front of the truck. Replacing the headlights in the 2008 Colorado requires no tools to complete.

Instructions

    1

Open the Colorado's hood and look on the rear of the headlight assembly. Locate the two headlights inserted into the rear of the headlight assembly. The outer headlight is the low beam and the inner is the high beam.

    2

Reach into the engine compartment and twist the burned-out bulb counterclockwise to unlock it. Pull the headlight from the rear of the headlight assembly.

    3

Unplug the wiring harness from the headlight, by pulling up on the locking tab, and then pulling the harness from the headlight.

    4

Grab a new 9005 (high beam) or 9006 (low beam) bulb by its plastic base -- don't touch the glass part of the bulb -- and plug the wiring harness into it. Listen for the harness to click into place.

    5

Insert the new bulb into the headlight assembly and rotate the bulb clockwise to lock it into place.

    6

    Close the Colorado's hood.
