How to Remove Sprayed-On Window Tint

Traditional window tint is applied as a film, which is custom fitted to the vehicle. On some cars, though, people use sprayed-on window tint, which works but doesn't always give a consistent appearance. As a result, some people don't want the sprayed-on tint on their vehicle and decide to take it off. The process of removing the sprayed-on tint is basic enough, but it does involve some elbow grease and a lot of patience. It should take approximately 30 minutes per window to accomplish.

Instructions

    1

Open the door and sit inside the vehicle. Roll down the window just slightly so that there is about 1 inch of difference between the top of the glass and the window jamb. Spray down the window using the glass cleaner so that it is very wet.

    2

Hold the razor blade at a sharp angle to the glass so that the blade is almost parallel to the window itself. Scrape the glass using the razor blade, occasionally wiping off the blade using a paper towel. Scrape the entire window until all of the visible glass is clear of the tint. Roll up the window and scrape any remaining tint off of the window.

    3

Wet down the glass with the glass cleaner. Wipe the glass clean using a microfiber towel. Look at the glass again to make sure that there is no remaining tint on the glass. If you find some, scrape it off with the razor blade and clean the glass again.
