How to Remove the Windshield on a '91 Camaro

You can remove the windshield on your 1991 Camaro right from your home garage. The first thing to do when replacing your windshield is to remove the old windshield using some inexpensive tools you can purchase from any auto parts store. Some windshield cracks and chips can be repaired. But if the crack is 6 inches or longer, you should remove the windshield and replace it with a new one. If you keep a windshield with a large crack in it, it may not protect you should you become involved in an accident.

Instructions

    1

Find and remove the retaining nuts on the windshield wipers using a wrench. Pull off the wipers, and set aside.

    2

Put on some work gloves to protect your hands from the glass. Pry around the rubber fitting with a pry tool. Pull the rubber fitting away from the windshield with your hands. Discard or recycle the fitting.

    3

Run the windshield wire under the windshield and all away around its perimeter to break the urethane seal. Push out the Camaro's windshield from inside the vehicle.

    4

Take the windshield off the front of the vehicle, and discard or recycle it.

    5

Scrape away the urethane bead from the Camaro's windshield opening with a utility knife.
