How to Set a Star Nut

Star nuts are commonl fasteners used during the construction of bicycles, motorcycles and automobiles. Star nuts also are a necessary piece of hardware used to anchor various pieces of equipment, such as chairs. To set a star nut properly, use a star nut setter.

Insert the star nut setter into the guide tube, which the store includes with the purchase.

Position the nut setter above the head of the star nut.

Insert the end of the nut setter into the groove on the head of the star nut.

Hold the star nut setter in place with one hand and tap the end of the nut setter with a hammer, using the other hand. Tap the star nut setter until youlock the star nutinto place. Star nut setters have built-in depth guides which prevent you from driving the star nut too far; it will automatically sink it to the proper depth.
