The front turn signals on the 2000 BMW 323Ci are designed to allow other drivers to see what direction the car is turning. The right-front turn signal bulb is positioned inside the fender, and it is not secured with any screws or brackets. The entire right signal light assembly must be unlocked from the inside of the fender through a small opening on the side of the fender. Once the light bulb assembly is unlocked, the assembly can be pulled out of the fender, and the bulb can be replaced.
Instructions
- 1
Park the BMW 323Ci on a flat surface and set the parking brake.
2Locate the small opening on the right-front fender, near the turn signal light assembly. Shine a flashlight through the hole and locate the silver plastic locking tab on the side of the turn signal assembly, inside the fender.
3Insert the end of a long flat-head screwdriver through the hole and press down on the silver locking tab. This will unlock the turn signal assembly from the fender. Continue holding down the locking tab with the screwdriver while pulling the turn signal assembly out of the fender with your other hand. Pull the assembly and the wiring harness out, far enough so that the bulb can be replaced. Let the turn signal assembly hang outside the fender.
4Push inward on the light bulb and turn the bulb about one-quarter of a turn counter-clockwise to loosen it from the socket. Pull the bulb out of the socket and discard it. Insert the new 7506 bulb into the socket and push it inward while turning it clockwise one-quarter of a turn, until it locks in place.
5Slide the wiring harness of the turn signal assembly back through the fender and press the assembly into the fender until the silver locking tab locks the assembly to the fender. The assembly should make a locking sound when it secures to the fender.
