The Chevrolet Impala has several lights on its gauge cluster -- referred to as instrument lights. These lights allow you to see the various gauges on the Impala's cluster, such as the tachometer, fuel gauge and speedometer. If these lights are not working properly, the issue is either with the light bulbs or the fuse. Replacing either component will remedy the situation. The fuses are located in the under hood fuse block and the bulbs are on the instrument cluster itself.

Instructions

    1

    Open the Impala's hood.

    2

Remove the cover from the fuse block. Locate the fuse labeled "INT LIGHTS."

    3

Remove the fuse with a fuse pulling tool and install a replacement fuse in its place. Reattach the fuse block cover.

    4

Disconnect the battery with a socket wrench.

    5

Remove the six screws from the instrument cluster. There are four on the cluster itself and two above the cluster, holding the upper dash trim to the cluster. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws.

    6

Pull the cluster toward you. Remove any burnt out bulbs by pulling them out of their sockets. Replace them with new bulbs by pushing the new bulbs into the sockets.

    7

Place the cluster back into the Impala. Reattach the trim and the six screws. Reconnect the battery and close the hood.
