The Silverado is part of Chevrolet's line of light-duty pickups. The 2007 model offered truck owners several conveniences often reserved for cars, including turn signals and puddle lamps in the side-view mirrors. Unfortunately, due to their protrusion from the side of the truck, side-view mirrors are prone to damage from road-side obstacles such as construction barriers, as well as from other vehicles. While Chevrolet does not offer any parts to repair the mirror, you can save a little money by performing the removal and replacement labor yourself.

Instructions

    1

Open the window on the door with the mirror that you wish to remove. Pry the trim bezel out from behind the inner door handle, using a trim tool. Pry the trim panel on the lower side of the arm rest out of the door, using the trim tool.

    2

Remove the four bolts behind the two trim bezels, using a socket wrench and 10-mm socket. Pry the door panel off the door, beginning at the trailing-lower edge and working your way around the trailing side and bottom edges.

    3

Lift the door panel off the door. Reach behind the door panel and remove the door latch cable from the inner door handle. Remove the wiring connectors from the door panel switches.

    4

Pull the mirror backing insulator out of the backside of the door's A-pillar to expose the mirror retaining bolts. Pry the mirror wiring harness retainer off the base of the A-pillar with the trim tool. Remove the mirror retaining bolts from the door, using the socket wrench and 13-mm socket.

    5

Move to the outside of the door and pull the mirror off the door to remove it, using care to guide the mirror wiring harness and connectors through the hole in the A-pillar.

    6

Tuck the wiring connectors for the new mirror through the holes on the door A-pillar. Slide the new mirror into place on the A-pillar. Move to the inside of the door and tighten the retaining nuts onto the mirror, using the socket and wrench.

    7

Plug the mirror wiring connector retainer into the base of the A-pillar. Plug the mirror wiring harness and other door wiring harness connectors into the switches on the door panel. Reconnect the door latch cable to the inner door handle.

    8

Lower door panel onto the Silverado's door. Align the door panel retaining pins and push the door panel onto the door until the pins lock into place.

    9

Reinstall the four door panel retaining bolts, using the socket and wrench. Snap the trim bezels back onto the door panel.
