How to Locate the Air Compressor on a 1998 Ford Contour

The 1998 Ford Contour's air compressor is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment, just behind the radiator. The engine on the 1998 Ford Contour sits horizontally in the engine compartment with the serpentine belt between the engine and passenger side fender. The air compressor is a silver-colored cylindrical pump near the bottom of the engine to the right of the crankshaft pulley.

Open and secure the hood of the 1998 Ford Contour. Stand in front of the car on the passenger's side of the engine compartment.

Locate the serpentine belt, which runs around the pulleys between the engine and the passenger's-side wheel well on the fender.

Look down in the center of the engine to the crankshaft at the bottom. The crankshaft pulley is the large pulley in the middle, near the bottom.

Locate the air compressor to the right of the crankshaft, near the bottom of the engine. The air compressor for the 1998 Ford Contour is between the crankshaft pulley and the front grille.
