The 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup uses just three Phillips screws and a series of trim fasteners to secure the door panel. The trim fasteners used are round flat-head plugs with shards on the shank of the plug. The shank is pressed into predrilled holes in the door; by virtue of the shards on the fastener the door is held tight. Trim fasteners are rather fragile and easily damaged if undue pressure is applied.

Instructions

    1

Remove the Phillips screw in the plastic inside door handle cover using a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the cover off the door handle. Remove the two Phillips screws located under the door grab handle in the center of the door panel.

    2

Insert the common screwdriver between the door panel and the door starting at the lower rear corner of the panel. Slide the screwdriver up until it contacts a trim fastener. Pry the fastener out of the door and move up until the next one is encountered. Repeat the process. Remove the trim fasteners on both sides and the bottom of the door.

    3

Pull the door panel away from the door enough to disconnect the electrical plugs in the window and door lock switch from behind the door panel. Remove the panel.

    4

Install the panel by plugging in the electrical plugs to the back of the window switch. Align the trim fasteners with their respective holes in the door and press them in around the sides and bottom of the door panel.

    5

Install the two screws under the center armrest and the single screw in the plastic door handle cover.
