An uncontrolled radiator leak lowers the coolant level of your vehicle. Low coolant levels cause your vehicle to overheat. Overheating your vehicle's engine causes excess expansion of engine components. If the temperature rises drastically, the components of your engine will fail. Adding Steel Seal to a radiator plugs the holes leaking coolant. This saves you the costs of expensive radiator repair and eliminates the chances of your engine overheating.
Instructions
- 1
Read the coolant capacity marked on the radiator. If no markings are found on the radiator or in the engine compartment, find the coolant capacity in the vehicle's operating manual.
2Remove the radiator cap from the cool radiator. If your radiator does not have a radiator cap, loosen the hose clamp holding the radiator hose to the top of the radiator with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the radiator hose from the radiator.
3Pour the recommended amount of Steel Seal into the radiator cap opening or the open end of the radiator hose.
4Install the radiator cap or connect the radiator hose to the radiator.
5Turn your vehicle's temperature control and fan speed to high. Start the vehicle's engine. Press the gas pedal to raise the vehicle RPMs to 1,000. Hold the engine at 1,000 RPMs for one hour. Shut off the vehicle. Allow the coolant to cool for two to three hours.
