The 2002 Ford F150 4.2-liter engine does not use a separate oil sending unit. It has an oil pressure switch that performs two functions. One function is to send voltage to the gauge on the dash so the driver knows what the oil pressure is, and the other is to send a signal to the computer so that it knows what the oil pressure is. The switch is located on the front of the engine, about halfway down the driver side of the engine.
Instructions
- 1
Unplug the oil pressure switch.
2Unscrew the switch from the block using the appropriate wrench. Discard the old switch.
3Screw the new oil pressure switch into the block by hand as far as it will go. Tighten it firmly with the wrench, but do not over tighten it.
4Plug in the oil pressure switch wiring harness connector. Start the vehicle to ensure proper operation.
