The 2002 Chevy Cavaliers dash bezel has plastic posts in the rear formed into the bezel. These posts have a metal clip attached to the tip that are designed to snap into corresponding slots in the metal part of the dash to secure it. If replacing the radio with an after-market stereo is your intent, purchase an adapter harness for the 2002 Cavalier at the time of the radio purchase. This adapter eliminates the need for wiring the radio into the factory harness.

Instructions

    1

Pry the dash-bezel fasteners out using the small screwdriver. Very little pressure is needed to pry the clips out of the dash. Remove the two screws on either side of the radio-mounting bracket using a socket driver.

    2

Pull the radio straight out of the dash enough to access the rear of the radio. Pull the radio antenna out of the rear socket on the radio. Disconnect the wiring harness.

    3

Install the new radio by plugging in the wiring harness. Push the antenna into the hole for the antenna. Push the radio straight in and install the four mounting screws.

    4

Align the posts on the rear of the bezel with their corresponding holes in the dash and push them in until they snap lock in the holes.
