1995 Hondas all came equipped with all-around disc brakes. Regardless of the model of vehicle, whether it is an Accord, a Passport or an Africa; they all have the same instructions for removing their disc brakes. The brake job, permitting that you have the tools ready, should take around two hours from start to finish. Brakes should be changed every three-to-six months depending on how often you drive and the brand and quality of the brakes that are on the vehicle.
Instructions
- 1
Loosen each of the lugs with the tire iron 2 rotations. Set the wood blocks behind each of the tires you will not be removing.
2Raise the vehicle high enough that the wheels clear the ground with at least two inches. Completely remove the lugs and the tire and set those aside.
3Remove the caliper mounting bracket with the ratchet wrench. Hang it from the undercarriage with the bungee cord to remove and strain on the brake line.
4Remove the brake pads from the bracket. Make sure to pay attention to how they are put in to make re-installment easier.
5Compress the brake caliper. The brake caliper is the cylinder in the center of the bracket. Place one of the old brake pads over the caliper and press it down so it is flush with the bracket.
6Install the new brake pads by setting them into the slots where the old ones were.
7Re-attach the mounting bracket and set the tire back on. Lower the vehicle and then tighten all of the lugs with the tire iron.
