The air conditioning system of your Honda Accord has an electric fan, also referred to as a blower fan, underneath the dashboard of your vehicle. If the electric fan begins to fail, the A/C system will not work properly. In this situation, installing a new fan will allow you to use the A/C again. It is a fair bit of work as the right-side kick panel must be removed to access the fan, but it is otherwise fairly straightforward and should only take an hour to complete.

Instructions

    1

Disconnect the Accord's battery by using a socket wrench to remove the negative battery terminal.

    2

Remove the four screws from the kick panel on the right side of the vehicle, underneath the glove box. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws.

    3

Remove the two brass screws from the plastic cross-brace underneath the dash and remove the brace itself.

    4

Reach up through the area revealed by removing the brace to access the electric fan.

    5

Disconnect the electrical connector from the fan and remove its three securing screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

    6

Remove the fan and attach a replacement to the vehicle. Reinstall the electrical connector and three screws.

    7

Reattach the brace and the glove box. Reconnect the negative battery terminal when done.
