The P-71 is the police version of the Ford Crown Victoria used in Canada and the United States. One difference between the P-71 and Crown Victorias sold to the public is that it boasts a revised heavy duty transmission and a 250-horsepower engine. However, P-71s are occasionally sold to the public as used cars in police auctions and sales. The map light on a P-71 is a small light mounted at the top front middle of the windshield, above the dashboard. Replacing a burned out map light only requires a few tools.
Instructions
- 1
Open the hood of the P-71 and loosen the negative battery cable with the wrench. Pull the battery cable free from the battery post and move it aside so it does not make contact with the post.
2Locate the retaining screw that holds the plastic map light frame in place. Remove it along with the clear plastic lens cover with a screwdriver.
3Pull the map light bulb straight out by hand. Slip the P-71's replacement map light bulb into the empty socket.
4Hold the lens cover and plastic frame back up to the roof. Insert the retaining screw and tighten it with the screwdriver.
5Replace the P-71's negative battery cable with the wrench.
