The 1969 Nova was a powerful muscle car manufactured by Chevrolet. The starter on the Nova worked in conjunction with the ignition system and the car's battery to start the vehicle. When the Nova does not start, but the ignition and battery test out as okay, it means the starter has likely worn out, and it is time to wire a new starter. Buy replacement starters either from a Chevrolet dealership or an auto parts store.
Instructions
- 1
Open the Nova's hood and remove the negative battery cable with an adjustable wrench.
2Remove the wires running from the Nova's starter.
3Use the socket set to remove the bolts holding the old starter in place and then pull the old starter out.
4Connect the wires to the new starter.
5Hold the new starter in place and insert the mounting bolts. Tighten them with the socket set.
6Tighten the Nova's negative battery cable with the wrench.
