The speedometer on your 1968 Dodge Fury is important for operating your vehicle as you can be involved in an accident or even receive a ticket from the police if you do not know how fast you are driving. If your Dodge Fury's speedometer begins to malfunction, it should be repaired immediately. There are really only three problems that can affect a speedometer: a loose wire, a blown fuse, or a faulty instrument cluster.
Instructions
- 1
Open the Dodge Fury's hood and disconnect the battery with a socket wrench.
2Open the fuse block and remove the instrument cluster fuse in slot 6 with a fuse puller tool. Install a new 10A fuse and close the fuse block. If the problem still persists, you may need to check the wiring of the speedometer.
3Remove the five screws from the Dodge Fury's instrument cluster. There are three on the instrument cluster itself and two just above the cluster on the dash panel. Remove the dash panel.
4Lower the steering wheel and pull the instrument cluster towards you. Reach behind it and locate the wiring connector on the far left of the cluster. Connect the wiring connector to the cluster. If the problem persists, then the issue is a bad instrument cluster.
5Disconnect the two wiring connectors and pull the cluster out of the vehicle. Install a new cluster and reconnect the two wiring connectors.
6Reattach all of the screws and the dash panel. Reconnect the battery and close the hood.
